Abby Youmans has been a friend to DHS her whole life, but officially joined the team in May of 2023. She is new to the green industry, having spent the four years prior in the world of journalism. She graduated from Indiana University Columbus with a bachelor’s degree in English in 2020 and was previously the editor of the Brown County Democrat newspaper.
Her experience with people and advertising qualified her for a sales role at DHS. As a sales associate, she meets with new installation clients at their homes to establish a goal and vision for their landscape and give them estimates and proposals for that work. On the maintenance side, she keeps track of monthly report cards for clients and performs site visits to keep up with recurring work. She also manages our social media and website.
Entering into the green industry with an appreciation of nature, she has enjoyed expanding her knowledge in the field. She likes walking the nursery fields inventorying trees and caring for nursery plants at our campus. “There is always something new to learn, and spending time in nature allows you to be more aware of your place in the world and have a deeper connection with its Creator,” she said.
She has a passion for the Lord, an affinity for birds, baking and photography, and in her spare time she is a musician, likes to travel, write, cook, and spend time with her family and pets.
